Lovely little cafe on Crown Street. I tried their special of the day: sourdough toast with goats cheese, balsamic and grilled tomatoes. Yummy! They are always busy, but it’s worth the wait to get a table! You can always browse in the small shops across the street meanwhile as well.

Last week I stumbled across this cosy little cafe in Redfern. The cafe was warm and comfortable, and the smell of their freshly baked bread with newly roasted coffee lured me in to having my second breakfast for the day. Not even a slightly bit hungry!

The Book Kitchen, the place to start a good weekend. They serve Single Origin coffee and breakfast prepared using organic produce directly form Sydney markets. The big bookshelf with old and new cookbooks are there for you to browse and get ideas from. Why not plan the next meal while you’re having one? They are open for dinner Wednesday to Saturday, and for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week.

The bakery where there always is a queue. The pastries, sourdough breads and muffins are all worth the wait. And despite the length of the line, it normally doesn’t take too long. In fact, you actually need the time to make a selection from all the mouth watering options.
We tried a Rhubarb muffin and a pastry with currants. Both delicious!

Last week, Kate and Me stumbled across this cute little cafe on Bourke street in Surry Hills. We immediately fell in love with the charming place and ended up having a coffee there. They’ve only been in the neighbourhood for about two weeks, but seems to already have regulars stopping buy for coffees and a chat in the morning. This is a cafe you would like to stay for the whole morning, reading and watching people walking by. They serve homemade bircher muesli for only $6, and sourdough toasts with apricot and rosemary jam and strawberry jam for $4.
Love to walk in to these places were you can feel the passion and good atmosphere right away. There is so many of these places in Melbourne, and luckily Sydney is trying to catch up at the moment!
Grigons and Orr is the new corner shop. Now providing fresh milk every morning, pasteurised, chilled and packaged in glass bottles. You can also pick up your free range eggs from Annies farm here. In 1867 there was a corner shop her, that used to serve the neighbours with the daily bread and butter and now, 142 years after it’s back in the local community.
Try their couscous porridge with goji berries, or apple fritters with walnuts, caramel sauce and mascarpone dusted with mint sugar.

The Boat House is located on Palm Beach, one of Sydney’s finest beach. This little cafe makes the 45min drive from the city worth it. They do exceptional fish and chips, and big burgers! If that’s not your thing they do great salads and salmon paninis, fresh fruit and a small deli section.

Behind purple doors you will find Italian imported wines, tapas, intimate space and excellent service. Bring a date or a friend, just don’t tell to many. We want to keep it our little secret.

The new playground in Sydney. It’s flamboyant, kitch, delicate and funny.
When you got a former builder, interior designer, and interior stylist putting their heads together you get a unique fantasy world.
After several trips backs I always discover new bizarre and funny things there, like a private dining room dedicated entirely to Elvis. Or a cage high up under the ceiling with a chicken in it (not alive). There are chandeliers flamboyantly made out of random objects and hanging from the ceiling are 80’s desk lamps (upside down).
The menu includes share platters and starters big enough for lunch. Nothing is more than $25 on the menu. The food arrives in an unpretentious way, like burgers served on wooden chopping boards accompanied by chips in “newspaper” cups. This mint & pine nut lamb burger will cure about anything.
